Aussie hair and beauty brand admits customer data breached in hack

A popular hair and beauty brand has confirmed that some personal information of customers was accessed during a recent data breach.
Oz Hair and Beauty confirmed that its online purchase and order platform had been accessed by an unauthorised third party.

In an email sent to customers on Wednesday, the company said the personal information of customers had been exposed as a result.
“The impacted personal information relates to purchases made prior to August 2026 and includes full name, contact information, being your email address and/or mobile phone number [and] details of your purchase history,” the email, seen by nine.com.au, said.
Oz Hair and Beauty clarified that personal financial information, including credit card details, was not accessed.
Details that may have been accessed include purchase history referring to the currency used, total spend, and broad location data, including city, state, country, and postcode.
The company said it had moved quickly to secure its website once it became aware of the breach, and said it was taking steps to review its security protocols.

“We took immediate steps to commence a forensic investigation and implement containment measures, with the support of senior technical specialists from our cloud e-commerce platform provider,” it said.
“Separately, we have and are undertaking steps to reduce the risk of similar events occurring moving forward. This includes reviewing and enhancing our cybersecurity posture and data retention policies.”
“We are continuing to notify customers and are taking all reasonable steps to support everyone, in accordance with our regulatory obligations. We sincerely regret any inconvenience or concern this Incident has caused.”
Oz Hair and Beauty has also advised customers to remain vigilant for any suspicious activity they may face in the coming days after the breach.
“[This includes] any unusual communications by phone or email requesting information, payments or proof of identity,” the company said.
“If you have received a spam email, there may be options within your email platform that allows you to mark spam email, which can assist to limit the extent to which such spam email is received in the future.”

Thecompany was founded in 1986, and operates 37 physical store and salon locations across Australia.
It also has built up a significant online presence since it launched its website in 2012.
It reported $100 million in revenue in the last financial year, and employs around 500 staff.
