Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley has been suspended for one year for breaching the AFL's anti-doping code after testing positive to a banned substance last September.

Crowley fronted the AFL's anti-doping tribunal last month after testing positive to a "specified" banned substance last year.

Crowley had faced a ban of up to two years - a scenario that would almost certainly end his AFL career.

The 31-year-old's one-year suspension has been back-dated to September last year, meaning he could play in the final two weeks of this year's final series, should the Dockers make it to the Grand Final.
