Intruder killed in suspected aggravated burglary gone wrong at Frankston
The Homicide Squad is investigating after the body of a burglar was found in the front yard of a Frankston home today.
Police believe a man was attempting to break into the Cassia Grove house at around 1.30pm when a woman living at the home screamed out for help.
The intruder then fled to the front yard where police believe a neighbour came to the woman's aid.
There was an alleged confrontation between the pair before the intruder died.
The occupants of the home have lived there for less than a month, with the woman involved in today's incident taken to hospital.
"She has suffered injuries and she has been conveyed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but of course she is in a fairly distressed way," Detective Sergeant Rob Nazaretian said.
It is not yet known how the burglar died, or whether the neighbour will face charges over his death.
Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation of the man's death and appeal for any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
