Man drowns after being ejected from boat on NSW Northern Rivers

A man in his 60s has died after being ejected from a boat at Wardell, on NSW’s Northern Rivers.

The man was riding in the boat when he and another man aged 37 were ejected into the water on the Richmond River about 7.30am.

He was pulled from the water, and despite attempts to resuscitate him he could not be revived.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

The 37-year-old man, believed to be a work colleague, is in a stable condition and has been taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Richmond Police District have established a crime scene at East Wardell and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report is currently being prepared for the Coroner.
