Off-duty policeman with a gun sparks U2 concert cancellation

A scheduled U2 concert has been postponed after an off-duty policeman with a gun entered the Stockholm arena in the hours before the performance was due to begin, sparking a security scare.
Hundreds of fans had spent hours lining up outside the Globe Arena in the Swedish capital to get the best standing spots to watch the Irish megastars before they were informed the gig was postponed.
Some fans with seat tickets were already inside the venue when they were told the rockers would not be appearing on stage, reports Swedish news site The Local.
Initially fans were told there were technical issues delaying the performance however it later emerged that facility personnel were investigating a “security breach”.
An off-duty police officer had been let into the venue with a gun. Off-duty officers in the Scandinavian nation aren’t permitted to carry firearms.
Police spokesman Kjell Lindgren told The Associated Press the man was not comprehensively searched when he passed through security.
No arrests were made and the concert was rescheduled for Tuesday.
