Objective response needed to IS threat-MP

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull says the terrorist threat posed by Islamic State must be spoken about in an objective and proportional way.

Mr Turnbull said the government's objective was to defeat IS, but domestically there needed to be a smart approach to opposing radicalisation.

"I think the threat posed from Daesh is a very real one, but it is important to remember that, as I said in my speech, this is not a threat to the west like Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin," he told reporters in Sydney on Friday.
