O'Farrell uncovers 'secret' Labor policies

NSW Labor wants to introduce another "great big new tax" on Sydney motorists, the government claims.

Premier Barry O'Farrell says he's obtained a "secret policy document" revealing a number of opposition measures that would "frighten households right across NSW".

Opposition treasury spokesman Michael Daley dismissed the document as "fabricated".

The document, which appears to be a powerpoint presentation, is entitled "NSW Labor Policy Forum - Jobs and the Economy Policy Commission".

It presents the results of a survey of more than 680 responses, 90 per cent of which it says were from Labor members.

The survey showed there was "strong support" for an increase to the overall tax take, a broad-based land tax and a Sydney-wide vehicle congestion tax.

"Labor's policies would hurt families, devastate the economy, cost jobs and send the cost of living skyrocketing," Mr O'Farrell told parliament on Thursday.

He claimed Labor's "great big congestion tax" would mean a trip from Rouse Hill, in Sydney's northwest, to the airport would cost $62 in tolls.

A broad-based land tax on home owners would cost an average of $1700 a year.

"That means a new Labor tax on every new household across this state," Mr O'Farrell said.
