Woman dead after NT car crash

A woman is dead after her partner crashed their car into a tree, allegedly while drink-driving, near Alice Springs.

The 35-year-old man suffered minor injuries but his partner, also 35, died at the scene on Tuesday morning after the car hit a tree and rolled, police say.

The man is being questioned by police and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

NT's road toll is 39, compared to 35 this time last year.
