Pedestrian killed and robbed after being struck by car in Darwin

A pedestrian has been robbed after being killed crossing a suburban Darwin road.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was struck by a vehicle in Rapid Creek about 7pm (ACST) on Thursday.

"Witnesses say there was another woman with her, who dragged her off the road before absconding with the woman's property," Acting Senior Sergeant Tanya Mace said in a statement.

"The driver is understandably distraught and is assisting police with their investigations."

Police are seeking help from the public to find the pedestrian's companion.

The Major Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
