NT police release bizarre music festival safety video

Northern Territory police have released a retro-themed instructional safety video in an attempt to win over festival-goers ahead of this year’s Bass In the Grass event.

The unusual video, posted to the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Safety Services Facebook page on Wednesday, promises to help attendees enjoy a “fully lit time”.

It shows a “cock” – a would-be attendee in a chicken suit – engaging in a number of criminal activities including drug use, hopping festival ground fences and trying to attend using a fake ticket.

Senior Constable First Class Dean Elliot told the ABC that police had aimed for something a “bit out there” in the hopes of achieving better engagement.

Facebook users have applauded NT Police for their unique approach.

“Well played, NT Police,” one person commented.

Bass in the Grass festival took place in Darwin yesterday.

The police video has received more than 120,000 views.
