A discontinuance of appeal proceedings has been lodged by former real estate boss Christopher Deutrom more than a week after he applied to appeal his five year prison sentence.

The former manager of Elders Real Estate Darwin had lodged a bid against the severity of his term, but 9News has now confirmed the change of heart.

Mr Deutrom received a five year head sentence in November last year after he was found guilty of obtaining $237,000 by having advertising rebates, meant for the company, transferred to personal bank accounts.

He is eligible for parole in mid-2021 after serving two-and-a-half years behind bars.
