Man charged over fatal NT hit-and-run

A man has charged over an alleged hit-and-run incident in Darwin on New Year's Eve.

Police say the pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, was hit about 10.30pm at Ludmilla by a speeding car that did not stop.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday and later charged with hit-and-run causing death, driving under the influence and driving without a licence.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Two other people who were in the car have been questioned by police.

The pedestrian's death was the Northern Territory's first road fatality for the holiday period.
