Man arrested over Darwin sexual assault

A man has been arrested over the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Darwin on Wednesday night.

Northern Territory Police on Friday said a 41-year-old man had been identified through information at the scene and by CCTV footage of the area at the time of the alleged offence, which occurred while a 34-year-old woman was sleeping near a CBD street corner.

He was arrested in Palmerston on Friday afternoon and remains in police custody, with charges likely to be laid later in the day, police said.
