Territorians are likely to have weathered the equal hottest dry season on record, with around half of the average rain recorded.

The NT's average mean maximum temperature for the five months between May and September is on track to be the equal hottest in history, nearly two degrees higher than normal, the Bureau of Meteorology says.

"Every month of the dry season saw above average maximum temperatures with July being the warmest on record," BoM NT Climate Services Manager Greg Browning said.

"And while we usually see some rain in Darwin during the dry season, this year the rain gauges have registered none for the first time since records began in 1941."
