Alleged crime spree for teen escapee in NT

A youth detainee has been charged over a serious crime spree during his week on the run in the Northern Territory.

Police arrested a 16-year-old male in Alparra on Saturday, about 250 kilometres north of Alice Springs where he allegedly escaped a youth detention centre a week earlier.

He has been charged with 21 offences including aggravated unlawful use of a car, unlawful entry to buildings and homes and stealing.

Detective Superintendent Michael White alleged the boy was networked, offending with a group of up to eight other people.

They have been arrested and charged with various offences, he says.

The teen was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on Monday.
