Alice Springs pair face 60 charges

Two men who police say committed 20 break-and-enters in Alice Springs have been slugged with 60 criminal charges.

Police say the pair, aged 19 and 20, were arrested after breaking into a car detailing business at about 2.30am on Tuesday.

When arrested they had a pair of bolt cutters, a torch and beer bottles, which police said were all stolen.

The pair admitted breaking into, stealing from and damaging 19 other locations in the town during March, police said.

They were charged with 20 counts of unlawful entry, 20 counts of stealing and 20 counts of criminal damage, and were remanded in custody to appear at the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
