Man charged with murder after woman, 41, found dead inside home in Alice Springs

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a home in Alice Springs.

Northern Territory Police responded to reports a woman had died at a property in Braitling at around 8am on Sunday.

Emergency services arrived shortly after and the woman, 41, was declared dead at the scene.

A 39-year-old man, believed to be known to the victim, has since been charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Court today.

The murder charge follows a separate alleged domestic violent incident which took place in the Alice Springs suburb of Larapinta, around 8km from Braitling, yesterday.

Police were called over reports a woman was holding onto the bonnet of a white Holden Commodore which was driving dangerously.

The driver, 42, is believed to be known to the 40-year-old victim.

It's alleged the driver had accelerated towards the woman after a verbal argument on Lyndavale Drive, which forced her onto the bonnet.

He then allegedly drove through several streets while she remained clinging to the car.

Police said she was flung from the car on Zeal Street before the driver attempted to hit her again.

He then fled the scene in the car.

The woman was left uninjured and no arrests have been made.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
