12 injured in NT car crashes

Twelve people, including two small children, have been injured in two car crashes in the Northern Territory.

Five people, two of whom were small children and one of whom was thrown from a car, were hospitalised with minor injuries after smashing into a tree near Top Springs on Saturday, CareFlight says.

They escaped serious injury because the tree was infested with termites and gave way during the crash.

In an earlier accident, seven people were injured after their car rolled in East Arnhem Land.
