Woman's body found inside burned NSW house

An elderly woman's body has been found inside a burning house near the NSW Snowy Mountains.

Firefighters made the grim discovery about 3.30am on Monday, as they were putting out a blaze at a two-storey home on Rainbow Street, Old Adaminaby.

The woman has not been formally identified but is believed to have lived alone at the home.

She was aged in her 80s.

The scene was being examined by detectives and forensic specialists on Monday afternoon but police said they were not treating the fire as suspicious.
