Woman dies after being hit by a Sydney bus

A woman has died after being hit by a bus in Sydney.

She was hit on Cleveland St at Redfern about 11.40am on Sunday, with paramedics unable to revive the woman, who died at the scene.

The woman, whose age has not been confirmed, was believed to have been crossing the road between two sets of traffic lights, police say.

Westbound traffic is being diverted into Young and Chalmers streets back onto Cleveland and police are urging motorists to avoid the area.
