Woman dead after car rolls in NSW

A woman has died after the sedan she was driving left the road and rolled in the NSW Upper Hunter region, becoming the state's first road fatality of Christmas period.

Emergency services were called to the Golden Highway at Merriwa around 3:30pm on Saturday.

The woman, who was sole occupant of the car, died on the scene, police say.
