Two dead, one critical, in NSW car crashes

Two people have died in separate car crashes on NSW roads and a young man is fighting for his life in a Canberra hospital.

A 19-year-old woman was killed when a ute she was a passenger in crashed at Ungarie in the state's central west shortly after 5am on Saturday.

Another passenger, a 23-year-old man, was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition, police said.

The ute's driver, a 23-year-old man, and another male passenger, 22, were taken to Orange Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Five hours later, a local man died following a two-car collision near the north coast city of Coffs Harbour.

The cars crashed in Thora about 10am with a 31-year-old local dying at the scene.

The driver of the second car was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Meanwhile, a 93-year-old woman died in hospital a day after a crash in Tamworth.

She was driving a car which collided at an intersection with a four-wheel drive, on Thursday afternoon.

She was rushed to Tamworth Base Hospital with multiple injuries but died on Friday afternoon.
