Witnesses detain attempted murder suspect

A man is fighting for his life after being found badly injured in the car park of a block of units in Lismore.

The 56-year-old has a fractured skull and stab wounds to his back.

He was airlifted to hospital on Sunday night and remains in critical condition.

It's believed he was assaulted in the stairwell after leaving one of the units with another man.

Witnesses detained a suspect at the scene until police arrived.

A 27-year-old man was charged with attempted murder and will appear in Lismore Local Court on Monday.
