Early Life: Tori grew up on a 10-acre property in the Hawkesbury River region near Sydney.

Tori met his partner Thomas Zinn while attending the University Of Hotel Management in Switzerland. Described as "a very gentle, loving and sensitive person" by Mr Zinn. Also "patient, caring and supportive".

Occupation: Lindt Cafe Manger

Future plans: Johnson's dream job was to become an architect and eventually move to the country and build a house with his partner Mr Zinn.

Previous work: Restaurant manager in Darling Harbour.

Johnson sought new work after he was attacked over a taxi on his way home from work. Fed up with the long hours and stressful weekend shifts, he took the position of Lindt Cafe Manager because it provided a "safer environment".

The siege:

Mr Zinn described his courage and care for his fellow hostages.

"He never had a choice but to stay with the hostages - and he knew this. Any actual or attempted escape would mean somebody would get hurt."

"He knew he was abandoned and he knew he would die."

After inquest findings were handed down on Wednesday: "Everybody who knew Tori would agree that we lost a guardian angel that night," said Mr Zinn.
