A man has been charged after police allegedly found a loaded sawn-off rifle, replica firearms and an electrical stun device disguised as a torch in a vehicle in Sydney's west.

Police say they also found drugs and numerous identification cards when they stopped the vehicle occupied by three men and a woman at Villawood in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A 32-year-old man was charged with multiple offences including possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place and possessing ammunition without a licence.

He was refused police bail ahead of an expected appearance at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

A 35-year-old woman was issued a court attendance notice on a charge of having goods in custody suspected of being stolen.

The two other men in the vehicle were released pending further investigation, police say.
