Wanted NSW man caught with gun, knives

A man wanted over aggravated sexual assaults has allegedly been caught with a loaded firearm, boxes of ammunition and two knives on a highway near Dubbo Airport.

A tip-off led to the arrest of the man, 47, who was found walking along the Mitchell Highway on Tuesday morning.

The weapons, including a .22 calibre firearm, were allegedly found during a subsequent search.

"He was wanted on a warrant for aggravated sexual offences committed in the Narromine area," police said.

The man has also been charged with carrying a cutting weapon on apprehension, possessing a loaded firearm, possessing ammunition and having goods in custody.

He's been refused police bail and is due in Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday.
