Wanted man caught after falling over slide

A wanted man is in hot water after he stacked it on a slip 'n' slide while fleeing police in Newcastle.

The 28-year-old Narrabri man, who was wanted on three outstanding warrants, ran from officers after they recognised him in a car that was stopped in Adamstown at midday on Wednesday, police said.

During his break for freedom, witnesses told police they saw the man slip and fall over the children's water toy.

He was arrested a short distance away and refused bail, to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday afternoon over a number of offences including escaping lawful custody.
