US spearfisher dies in drowning tragedy at popular beach in Manly
A US national has died after being pulled from the water at a popular beach in Manly, in Sydney’s north.
Emergency crews were called to Shelly Beach after receiving reports that two swimmers had been pulled from the water, including one man who was unconscious.

Paramedics gave CPR to the man, aged in his 40s, before he was rushed to hospital.
The US man, who is yet to be identified, died in hospital.
The other swimmer, aged in his 20s, was uninjured.
Police were told the pair, who were known to each other, were spear fishing before they were caught in a rip.
Investigations are continuing.
