US man charged with Sydney cocaine imports

A US resident has been arrested and charged in Sydney for his alleged role in an international cocaine smuggling syndicate.

The 47-year-old man was arrested near Sydney Airport on Thursday after arriving in the country earlier in the week, and charged with three counts of importation of a marketable quantity of cocaine using airfreight and mail systems.

Thursday's arrest comes after two men were charged in a June raid Sydney's west in connection to the same syndicate.
