Car hits two pedestrians in Sydney, leaving one with critical head injuries

Emergency services were called to the scene about 4.50pm. (9NEWS) 

Two young men have been badly injured after they were hit by a car on Murray Street in Pyrmont, with one suffering critical head injuries.

Police blocked off the road as paramedics treated the critically injured man.

The other man has suffered serious head and limb injuries and was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in Darlinghurst.

The driver, believed to be a woman aged in her 70s, was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

It is believed the Nissan Micra veered onto a footpath and hit the pair.

The woman is believed to have suffered a medical episode.
