Two men escape from NSW prison

Two men are on the run after escaping from a minimum-security prison in north western NSW.

Paul Jackson, 18, and Lucas Hines, 20, were last seen jumping a fence about 20km north of the correctional centre at Gongolgon about 3.45am on Friday, police say.

Corrections officers first became aware of the prisoners' disappearance while conducting a routine check of the facility, located 70km south of Brewarrina, at 11.30pm on Thursday.

The men are described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Island appearance, with a thin build and brown eyes.

Police are warning the public not to approach the men and to call triple zero immediately.
