Two elderly men killed on NSW roads

An elderly man has died after being struck by a car while crossing the road in NSW's Hunter Region.

The 78-year-old had parked his car in Belmont and was crossing the road with his wife on Friday evening when he was hit by a car being driven by an 81-year-old woman.

He died in hospital in the early hours of Saturday.

Meanwhile, another elderly man has died after crashing his car into a tree on the state's Mid North Coast.

Police said the 76-year-old was driving in Hickeys Creek, near Kempsey, on Friday afternoon when he came off the road while turning a corner and smashed into the tree.

He died on the way to hospital.
