Two drink-driving charges in two hours

A man has allegedly been caught drink driving twice in as many hours in the same eastern Sydney suburb.

The 35-year-old was first pulled over in Mascot shortly after 9pm (AEST) on Sunday after police allegedly saw his white Volkswagen ute travelling at more than 100km/h in a 70km/h zone.

He failed a roadside breath test and later returned an alleged reading of 0.117 at Mascot Police Station.

Police confiscated his licence, charged him with mid-range drink driving, and directed him not to drive home.

Yet at 11pm, not two hours after he was first caught, he was pulled over on another Mascot road, where he again failed a roadside breath test.

He was taken back to Mascot Police Station where he allegedly blew 0.097.

His keys were confiscated and he was charged with a second count of mid-range drink driving in addition to a charge of driving while suspended.

He will face Downing Centre Local Court in June.
