Two deaths on NSW roads at end of 2014

Two people have died in a single vehicle crash on NSW's mid-north coast, on the last day of 2014.

Police say the pair were travelling along the Pacific Highway at Moorland near Taree when their car left the road and hit a ditch at about 2pm.

No more details are known at this stage, police say.

The latest deaths brings the state's holiday road toll to six and the national toll to 20.

It comes after two motorcyclists were killed in the state's south coast within hours of each other on Tuesday.

At about 5.40pm, a 50-year-old man died after his motorbike and a car collided at Basin View, near Nowra.

A 43-year-old woman who was a passenger on the motorbike was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital with minor injuries.

Then, hours later emergency services discovered a male rider dead, and his female passenger with a broken arm, when they arrived at the southern end of Bellambi Beach about 8.30pm on Monday.

The woman was taken to Wollongong Hospital but was treated and later released.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Commands Assistant Commissioner John Hartley reminded everyone celebrating New Year's Eve to consider not only how your drinking effects you tonight, but also on the first day of 2015.

"Alcohol leaves the body slowly over time, and even though you might think you are right to drive the next morning, chances are you won't be," Assistant Commissioner Hartley said in a statement.
