Two dead, two injured in NSW highway crash

Two women have died and two men have been injured in a crash involving a ute, a four-wheel drive and a moped on the NSW mid-north coast.

Police say the female moped rider and a female passenger of the 4WD died at the scene after the vehicles collided on the Pacific Highway at Valla on Saturday afternoon.

The male driver of the 4WD was taken to hospital in a critical condition, while the male driver of the ute was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

One lane of the highway has been closed and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
