A Sydney maths tutor accused of sexually assaulting a child and her mother has been granted bail.

Quy Huy Hoang, 66, was arrested at his Greystanes home earlier this week and charged with two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under ten and one count of assault with an act of indecency.

Fairfield Local Court heard police had found 60 pictures of children on Hoang's phone. Twelve of the children had been identified.

The charges read on Friday relate to the alleged sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl and her 35-year-old mother between March and August this year.

Police prosecutor Leo Jajaw opposed bail for Hoang, arguing Hoang's "offending is no longer restricted to children" and further charges may be pending.

Hoang's barrister Todd Pickering told the court his client was not at risk of reoffending if given bail.

Magistrate James Coombs, in granting bail, said he didn't think Hoang posed an "imminent threat" of reoffending.

Hoang will next appear at Burwood Local Court on November 5.
