A Victorian truck driver has allegedly been caught with the drug ice in the cabin of his B-double after being pulled over on a NSW highway.

The 35-year-old was stopped on the Sturt Highway in Hay on Wednesday night, with police uncovering a small amount of ice, an ice pipe and a straw.

He's been charged with drug possession and possessing equipment and granted bail to appear at Hay Local Court next month.

"We know for a fact that drug-driving kills," Assistant Commissioner of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command John Hartley warned on Thursday.

"The more drug-drivers we can catch and prosecute, the safer our roads become, and we make no apologies for doing whatever we can to improve road-safety."
