Woman dies as car and 4WD crash in Sydney

A woman is dead after her car collided with a four-wheel drive in western Sydney.

Emergency services were called to an intersection on Heathcote Road at Voyager Point in Sydney's west following reports of a crash at 5.50pm on Wednesday.

Police say initial investigations suggest a Toyota Corolla and a Mitsubishi 4WD collided, and the female car driver died at the scene.

She is yet to be formally identified.

Two teenage passengers were treated by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The male driver of the Mitsubishi was uninjured.

A crime scene has been established and Heathcote Road is partially closed as investigations take place.

The fatal crash comes just hours after a truck driver died when his vehicle hit a tree in the Riverina region in the state's south.
