Tomahawk attacker to face Newcastle court

A man who allegedly axed another man in the neck with a tomahawk will face court in Newcastle.

The 34-year-old victim has been recovering in hospital after undergoing emergency surgery following the argument outside a home in Mayfield on Wednesday.

His alleged attacker fled the scene but was arrested a day later at a nearby house.

The 37-year-old has been charged with reckless wounding with intent and is set to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
