NRL player agents raided in Eels cap rort

The offices of four NRL player agents have been raided by NSW police as part of ongoing investigations into Parramatta's salary cap breaches.

Businesses in Sydney's CBD, Woollahra and Leichhardt were raided on Thursday in relation to Strike Force Rhodium, a NSW police spokeswoman told AAP.

No arrests are expected and no further comment will be made, police said.

Officers from the NSW Fraud and Cybercrime Squad arrived at the properties with search warrants just after 9.30am.

The addresses involve four managers Wayne Beavis in Woollahra; the Leichhardt office of Sam Ayoub; and the Pitt Street offices of George Mimis and Paul Sutton, according to reports.

It is hoped police can seize documents that will uncover potential fraud and money laundering.

Beavis released a statement on Thursday saying he would help police in their investigation.

"Wayne Beavis has and continues to co-operate with the Police and provided all relevant assistance requested as part of the investigation," he said.

A spokesman for the NRL said the Integrity Unity review of Player Agents is well advanced and a report is expected to be provided to the Player Agents Committee soon.

The Eels were rocked earlier this year after being stripped 12 competition points and fined $1 million for systemic cheating of the NRL salary cap over a period of three years.

It resulted in the sacking of their entire Eels board, as well as then-CEO John Boulous and football general manager Daniel Anderson.

Former chairman Steve Sharp, deputy Tom Issa and director Peter Serrao were the other three involved in rorting of the cap.

Parramatta has been sought for comment.

The developments come one day after Eels chairman Max Donnelly proposed a raft of extraordinary governance changes to members in a bid to start the 2017 on a clean slate.

Recently appointed CEO Bernie Gurr is also set to begin in his role on Monday.
