Iconic Sydney venue to close doors after 38 years
A beloved northern Sydney venue will close its doors after 38 years.
The owners of The Old Manly Boatshed announced that the restaurant and live music venue will close "due to circumstances beyond our control".
"It is with deep sadness and regret, that after 38 years of continuous live entertainment, music, dancing, comedy, restaurant and bar, our beloved venue is forced to close it's doors," owner Goff Burgess said.

"Back in 1987, with the help of longtime friends from Manly, Surf and Rugby Clubs, Grant McMinn and Goff Burgess began what has become an iconic Manly institute.
"From its beginnings as a restaurant, bar, and live music venue on Darley Road, to the digging of the tunnel to create what we know today.
"To say this is a shock is a total understatement, while it's hard to imagine Manly without the boaty, what remains is the legacy we've built together," it continues.

Locals have expressed their sadness about the club closing, with one person calling the venue an "institution," while another said she spent her 16th, 18th and 50th birthdays at the venue.
The venue will close mid-September.
The venue will remain open until then, continuing to serve food and entertain the community.
