A 16-year-old boy riding a motorcycle has been dragged under a car after a collision in the Shoalhaven region, on the south-east coast of New South Wales overnight.

Police said the teenager was riding an unregistered mini-motor cross motorcycle down Walter Street when he attempted to turn into Frederick Street at Sanctuary Point.

A 40-year-old man driving a Ford Fiesta allegedly struck the motorcycle rider as he turned, and dragged the teenager under the vehicle, police said.

The man then attempted to lift his car off the victim, but was unsuccessful and called emergency services.

The teenager was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital with a possible broken ankle, burns and grazes, police said.

Officers arrested the man and he was taken to Nowra Police station.

He has since been released, however both vehicles have been seized for further investigations.
