A teenage boy has been charged after he allegedly stabbed a man who was trying to grapple a knife away from him at a house in Sydney's north-west.

Officers were called to the Kellyville premises at about 9.40pm last night where a man was treated by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"It is believed a 15-year-old boy had armed himself with a knife inside the premises when a man attempted to disarm him," police said in a statement.

"The pair allegedly became involved in a struggle with the man sustaining a stab wound to his abdomen."

The 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station while a crime scene was established at the house.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in a children's court later today charged with malicious wounding.
