Teacher charged over indecent texts

A trainee teacher on the NSW mid-north coast has been charged with sending indecent texts to a 15-year-old student.

The 18-year-old practice teacher was arrested at a Port Macquarie School on Wednesday following reports he'd sent the girl indecent messages.

He's been charged with grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity, producing child abuse material and using a carriage service to send indecent material.

The 18-year-old has been refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court next week.
