Take care on northern beaches: NSW council

Sydney's Northern Beaches Council has implored beachgoers to take care when using its beaches over the long weekend.

Heavy storms and king tides lashed the area last weekend, with beachfront homes in Collaroy teetering on eroded coastline.

Council general manager Mark Ferguson said those using beaches, ocean pools, tracks and paths on the northern beaches should obey signs and be on the lookout for stray debris.

"Safety for residents and visitors to our area is our first priority and while we want everyone to enjoy their visit to the Northern Beaches we urge everyone to make safe choices," Mr Ferguson said.

Collaroy and South Narrabeen beaches will remain closed for the long weekend, while Manly Beach has been reopened.

A number of ocean pools have also been closed.
