Services resume after fire at NSW station

Services have resumed as normal at a busy Sydney railway station after thick smoke from a building fire closed Chatswood station for around two hours.

Services are now stopping at the north shore station.

Thirty firefighters fought the blaze on Thursday at Albert Avenue, where thick smoke enveloped a construction site.

About 200 people from a nearby 30-storey building and 50 people from the loading dock at the site were evacuated.

Firefighters have extinguished the blaze with the help of sprinklers.

The station was reopened about 4.30pm.

Crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
