Sydney taxi driver assaulted, cab stolen

A Sydney taxi driver has had his cab stolen after three men attacked him in the city's west.

The men flagged the taxi down on the Great Western Highway in St Marys early on Sunday morning, police say, asking the driver to take them to Penrith.

However on the way they asked him to stop in Kingswood, where they allegedly began attacking him.

One of the men drove away in the car while the other two ran off.

The driver flagged down a passing motorist and police later located the stolen taxi in Penrith.
