Thunderstorms and showers for NSW

Scattered showers caused by thunderstorm activity have fallen across many parts of NSW.

Caused by an inland trough and humid air mass, thunderstorms were prevalent in areas such as the Snowy Mountains, Southern Tablelands, Illawarra, Sydney, Hunter Valley and mid north coast.

Mount Seaview, inland from Port Macquarie, recorded 54mm of rain since 9am, while parts of Sydney and the Blue Mountains recorded between 25 and 35mm.

Storm activity also hit western NSW, particularly throughout the western slopes and plains.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in place for Illawarra and parts of the NSW South Coast, Central Tablelands and Southern Tablelands Forecast Districts with heavy rainfall, large hailstones and damaging winds expected.

Heavy rain in the Wollondilly and Wingecarribee area could lead to flash flooding and damaging winds.

While the ex-tropical cyclone is not bringing rain to NSW, Uesi is still pumping the coast with hazardous surf and swell conditions.
