Sydney's massive New Year's Eve program, which includes the world-renowned centrepiece fireworks show, is due to be announced on Monday.

About one million people are expected to watch the dazzling pyrotechnic effects shoot from seven barges in the harbour and across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House at midnight on December 31.

On Monday, the details of the 12-minute firework display are due to be announced at an event attended by City of Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore, NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Mick Fuller and Tourism Australia Managing Director John O'Sullivan among others.
