It's a survey that won't shock many Sydney commuters - the Pacific Highway through Chatswood, Pennant Hills Road and Parramatta Road have been voted the most hated roads in NSW and ACT.

According to an NRMA survey of almost 8000 drivers, Sydney has claimed five of the top 10 worst roads.

"WestConnex, NorthConnex and the North-West Rail Link will change Sydney for the better forever, yet we don't need to await their completion to make things better," NRMA President Kyle Loades said.

He said despite a 90 per cent decrease in injury crashes since upgrades to the Princes Highway north of Jervis Bay, highways in regional areas remain inadequate.

While the Pacific Highway is the No.1 road causing drivers to fume, the Sydney suburb of Concord in the west, has topped the charts as the suburb with the worst roads.

Pennant Hills Road, Parramatta Road, the M4 and the M5 consistently caused drivers to see red, the NRMA said.
